PEAKS
   Mountain cliffs and rocky landscapes occupy about 2,000 hectares (3% of the entire Park territory). Among the more original natural formations are Skalniya Most (the Rock Bridge), Markovata Dupka (Mark’s Hile) and the spindly vertical Kalchovi Kamani stone pillars.
   In the Park is located the unique Djendemite (literally: the Hells) rock complex combining centuries-old forests, vertical rock faces, and a mighty strip of exposed rock, that is one of a kind in Bulgaria.



The highest peak in Stara Planina is Botev – 2376 m above sea level and ranks third in Bulgaria.


The peak of Gerdektepe is a section of the main crest of Stara Planina. It falls between the peaks of Kelkaya and Dobrila, along the trail between the chalets of Dermenkaya and Dobrila.


Here the mountain is cut by steep avalanche furrows, the ice-cold water of Dyavolskata (the Devils) River roar.


Jumruka peak (1818 m) is located in the central part of Stara planina mountain. It is part of National park Central Balkan.


The peak of Ambaritsa is the popular old name of the peak of Levski. This is one of the highest peaks in Central Stara Planina – 2166 m. It is located along the main crest trail Dobrila hut – Botev Peak.


The peak of Maragidik – the beautiful Mara (in Turkish) – is indeed one of the most beautiful peaks of Central Stara Planina. It remains away of the main crest, but is high (1889 m) and visible from the whole northern outskirts of the mountain East of the Beklemeto Pass.


The peak is located on the side ridge, descending from the main crest in the region between the Beklemeto Pass and Orlovo Gnezdo shelter.


The peak is 1924.3 m high. It is located on the high plateau of Ravnets between the peaks Belchu and Ravnets.


It is located along the main crest trail Dobrila hut – Botev Peak, which follows the watershed crest between the Troyan and the Kalofer mountains. Given the high avalanche risk it is not recommended for hiking in winter.
