Sokolna Hut Transferred to the Management of the Central Balkan National Park Directorate
As of the current year, the management of Sokolna Hut has been officially assigned to the Central Balkan National Park Directorate. The decision to transfer the management of the facility was adopted by the Municipal Council at the end of 2025, followed by the signing of a formal agreement between the Municipality of Pavel Banya and the Park Directorate at the beginning of this year.
The Park Directorate intends to restore the hut’s operations upon completion of the necessary renovation works and upgrades to its facilities. The objective is to re-establish the site as a safe, well-maintained, and attractive destination for visitors to Central Balkan National Park. In addition, part of the premises is envisaged to be allocated for the operational needs of the Directorate, including its control and ranger activities in the region.
Sokolna Hut is situated southeast of Mount Mazalat, in a meadow below the Germekaya rock formations. The location offers a remarkable panoramic view over the Rose Valley and the Koprinka Reservoir. It is the only mountain hut in the southeastern part of the Park.
