08 April 2025
Yesterday, on the occasion of Forest Week, eco-activities were held with children from two age groups - from 1 to 4 grades and from 5 to 7 grades. A total of 30 students from the National School for Mountain Guides in the village of Cherni Osam participated in the initiative. An expert from the National Park office in Troyan presented presentations in the lecture hall of the Natural History Museum with an emphasis on the importance of the forest, its role in regulating water resources, the need for its protection and our responsibility to future generations. Useful knowledge was supported by demonstrations and games both in the hall and outdoors.
The eco-activities were held within the framework of the Museum's Spring Academy under the title "Nature Teaches - Lessons from the Forest", dedicated to Forest Week, and the project of the Directorate of the Central Balkan National Park "Study of Forest Ecosystems in Mountain Watersheds in the Central Balkan Biosphere Park". The project is being implemented within the framework of the third edition of the initiative "Promoting Sustainable Development through UNESCO Programs and Sites", implemented in collaboration between the UNESCO Office in Venice, the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Europe and the Aberdeen Christian Fellowship Foundation.
