Violators with high-pass vehicles in the Central Balkan National Park have been sanctioned
05 March 2025

On March 2, this year, park guards at the Central Balkan National Park Directorate (CBNP) conducted an inspection in the Gradishki solistha area in the land of the village of Kravenik, within the boundaries of the Stokite Park section, during which they found that six people, traveling in four all-terrain vehicles (UTV), had bypassed the barrier restricting access to vehicles on the road, and passing the sign indicating a ban on the passage of vehicles, had entered the park territory. This is a gross violation of the provisions of the regulatory acts and the CBNP Management Plan regarding the regimes of road use in the National Park.
Acts of establishing an administrative violation have been drawn up for the actions of the drivers.
According to the Park Management Plan (2016-2025), there are 79 roads within the Central Balkan National Park, some of which are open to the public, others with limited access – accessible within a certain period and quota after prior agreement, and some that are strictly prohibited from passing. Roads with limited access and those with a strict ban on access are indicated on the mountain by a sign indicating the prohibition of vehicle passage.
The consequences of the unregulated entry of vehicles into the park territories are associated with an increased risk of soil erosion, deterioration of natural habitats, destruction of plant and animal species, increased noise and disturbance of animals and pedestrian visitors.
Citizens who witness unregulated activities within the borders of the Central Balkan National Park can report them by calling 112 or by calling the Directorate's telephone numbers:
+35966801277 – on weekdays from 8:00 to 16:30;
+359885696081 – after that hours.
