Visiting the “Green Classroom”

In June, 140 children from four Gabrovo schools visited the Directorate of the Central Balkan National Park. During the Summer Academy organized by the municipality of Gabrovo, students from the “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” Primary School, “Neofit Rilski” Primary School, “Otets Paisii” Secondary School and “Raycho Karolev” Secondary School visited the “Green Classroom” of the Directorate in Gabrovo, where they studied and had fun.
In the “green” classes, conducted by the experts of the Park Directorate throughout the month, the children had the opportunity to gain new knowledge about protected areas, about significant dates in the environmental calendar and about the correct behavior and attitude towards nature through various eco-games and activities.
Together with them, we celebrated World Environment Day – June 5 and the World Day to Combat Drought and Desertification – June 17. During the events, the main emphasis was on guidelines and suggestions on how every inhabitant of the planet, including young people, can help to reduce the negative impact on the environment and how to be useful in protecting nature. The children left with wide smiles and a wish for new meetings.
