We celebrated World Water Day together with children from “Stefan Peshev” Primary School
24 March 2026
On March 23, on the occasion of World Water Day, experts from the Central Balkan National Park Directorate conducted educational activities with students from grades 4 “B” and “C” at “Stefan Peshev” Primary School in the town of Sevlievo. The 45 children participated with enthusiasm and curiosity in eco-games through which park staff introduced them to various aspects of the vast topic of water and the challenges humanity faces related to it.
Moving through three stations, the students had the opportunity to learn about natural water filtration processes in nature, water loss, as well as the main factors that influence the balance in nature and what depends on human actions for the protection of water resources. The children also learned about a somewhat different aspect of the global water crisis, related to this year’s World Water Day theme “Where water flows, equality grows” – in countries with limited water resources, this affects women more than men, which increases gender inequality and leads to a number of negative consequences. These include various health problems, negative impacts on lifestyle, unequal working conditions, and more.
We thank the students and their teachers for their active participation, their engagement with the topic, and for their hospitality!
