The Kostenurkata peak

ABOUT THE PEAK
The peak is the first East of the peak of Kupena, after crossing the massif of Krustcite. To the West it is limited by the so called Vidimska trail – it has still been used by the shepherds. The name of the peak comes from the Bulgarian word for tortoise – observed from the South, from the Vasil Levski hut it resembles a tortoise. It is located along the main crest trail Dobrila hut – Botev Peak, which follows the watershed crest between the Troyan and the Kalofer mountains. Given the high avalanche risk it is not recommended for hiking in winter. For the alpine hikers it is a traverse of IV b category. It is a section of the Kom-Emine hiking trail. The height of the Kostenurkata is 2034 м.
