The Kozya Stena peak
The peak of Kozya Stena accomplishes the subalpine, rocky, limestone ensemble located in the westernmost section of the Troyan mountain. Its popularity is proven by the fact that both the reserves and the hut, located at some q hour hike off it have the same name. The peak itself is maybe the most impressive of the chain of Ushite, Kucheto, Boba (Baba). The peak is 1670 m high and is crowned by rocky crown, descending in a frightful cliff to the North.Observed from the South the peak does not appear an impressive geological phenomenon and nothing suggests what hides behind the close rock edge. The look from the North, Northwest and Northeast however, opens an imposing panorama to one almost one-hundred-meter cliff, shaping the stone pile of the peak. Even more impressive is the view from the peak to the cliff and the vast beech forests below it. The incautious mountaineer this look may turn to be fatal as the rock edge is not secured. The site offers beautiful vistas to the Pre-Balkan to the North and the peaks of Sredna Gora, and in clear weather to the Rhodopes and Rila to the South. A metal wire is mounted here, which allows less trained tourists to climb the very peak. The region is fabulous for its exceptional vegetation – here you may observe a number of beautiful flowers amongst which the symbol of Bulgarian tourism – the edelweiss.
The trail from Eho hut to Beklemeto, of which this peak of is section is not recommended for hiking in the winter period. It could be hiked only after special training, with a special equipment and a competent guide. The avalanches danger is high. Address: Troyan Balkan
