28 April 2025
On April 25, the Central Balkan National Park Directorate, together with the Historical Museum in the town of Byala Cherkva, organized an exciting eco event in the center of the town of Byala Cherkva on the occasion of International Earth Day and in connection with the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Natural History Exhibition at the Museum. A total of over 80 children from the Bacho Kiro Primary School - the town of Byala Cherkva, the St. Kliment Ohridski Primary School and the Bacho Kiro Secondary School from the town of Pavlikeni took part in the campaign, passing through the four stations that the experts from the Park Directorate prepared for them.
"Earth", "Water", "Forest" and "Elements" were the hot spots for the children, where through educational games, entertainment and scientific experiments they learned more about the nature that surrounds us and why and how they can protect it.
At the "Earth" station, an expert from the Directorate told them more about Earth Day, and then they tested their knowledge about the main pollutants in nature.
At the "Water" station, another park expert, through practical demonstrations and water challenges, explained to the children the importance of forest and tree vegetation in regulating water quality and the quantity of water flow, as well as how difficult it is to protect every drop of water on the planet.
At the "Forest" station, the students learned more about trees from our expert - how to measure their height and thickness, how to determine their age and their role in environmental protection.
And at the "Elements" station, the children encountered fires, having a chance to extinguish our improvised flames and learn more about the serious consequences of natural disasters. Here, the NPCB expert also gave them a lot of useful knowledge about the world around us.
At the end of the event, there were 80 happy children who enriched their knowledge about planet Earth, and the three schools received a gift from the National Park Directorate - educational packages to support and break up the learning process in a way that is exciting for children.
