The Central Balkan has a high landscape heterogeneity (landscape diversity coefficient 0.79), as the Management Plan describes 3 types, 6 subtypes and 11 groups.

From the Paradise rocks in the Central Stara planina descends the highest waterfall in Bulgaria – Raiskoto praskalo.

The waterfall of Kademliiskoto praskalо is one of the marvelous creations of nature that takes your breath away.

Situated in the northern part of the biosphere reserve of Severen Djendem in Stara planina mountain, the Vidima Waterfall impresses with its enchanting beauty and majesty.

Here the mountain is cut by steep avalanche furrows, the ice-cold water of Dyavolskata (the Devils) River roar.

Tasovete is a site, located within the Steneto Reserve, at some 20 – 30 min hike North of Dermenkaya hut.

It is not so high like the others in the National Park of Central Balkan, but it is just as beautiful as the others are.

This site is a spacious pasture located in a side chain west of the valley of Starna River.

This beautiful site is located on the northern slopes of the peak of Zhalni, at some 60 m below the peak.

The Malka reka River rising just under mountain peak Levski in the Troyan Mountain and the Golyama Reka River taking its source from the southern side of peak Jaltets north of mountain peak Kochmara are considered the source of the Stara Reka River.

The site is located along the trail from Tazha village via Rusalka hut to Tazha hut, which follows the Rusaliiski Pass, used to cross Stara Planina since the times of the Celts and the Ancient Romans.

Vetrovitya Preslap (the Windy Saddle) is located along trail from Vezhen hut to Eho hut.

They are called like this because the strong wind blows between them with a typical sound resembling whistling.

The Turkish ridge place is located between mountain peak Maragidik, Rusalska polyana meadow and the Yurushka gramada peak.

In the past there used to be an ancient Roman watch-tower here.

Golyam Dzhendemski Waterfall is high around 12 m and is one of the dozens of waterfalls, formed by Byala River, while crossing Dzhendema Reserve.

The site is located above Karlovo town, the springs of Karamandra river are located there.

These are two 10 meters waterfalls located one below the other along Kumanitsa River.

The waterfalls represent cascades of Dalboka River with heights between 10 and 40 meters.

The Karlovsko Praskalo is located close to the Vasil Levski hut. It is accessed through a trail, branching left of the trail from the hut to Karlovo town.

This chute is located at some 200 - 300 meters off the Controlling-Information point Sladkata Voda of the Central Balkan National Park Directorate.

The mountain creek collects its water from the site of Penchov Prayaslap, north-west of Kozya Stena.

Its name is linked with the legend of a Bulgarian detachment lead by a priest who found his death here, during the years of the Ottoman yoke.

Zhidovi (Jew’s) Ravnishta (plains) is a natural phenomenon in the region of Steneto Reserve, especially rich in iron ores.

Kupata, also called Kralimarkova Kupa (hay stack) after the legendary hero Krali Marko, is a rock phenomenon, occurring in the in the region of the site of Krivinite – located on the summer trail from the Pleven hut to the peak of Botev.

The upper flow of Tazha River shapes a deep and majestic river valley, which competes the Southern Djendem – the famous Tuja gorges that are 2.5 km long and 300 – 400 m deep.

The phenomenon represents a beautiful rock bridge, shaped by the wind weathering of the limestone rock.
