We celebrated the Park Rangers' Day with many new challenges and entertainment

29 July 2025
On July 26, in connection with World Ranger Day, the "Ranger's Day" was held for the sixth consecutive year. The event was organized jointly by the Central Balkan National Park Directorate, the Natural History Museum in the village of Cherni Osam and the National School for Mountain Guides - the village of Cherni Osam. The celebration, which took place in the courtyard of the Museum, attracted young and old people from different parts of the country, as well as guests from the Netherlands.

The organizers had prepared ten thematic stations, at which the participants had the opportunity to challenge themselves, as well as to gain new knowledge related to the role of the park ranger and the peculiarities of working in the mountains, with animals, with plants, with natural elements, with rivers, forests and many others. Traditionally, the hot spots in the event - "The Ranger's Trail", "Like the Mountaineers" and "Tarzan's Trail" were not missing this year and, as always, aroused the greatest interest among the candidate rangers. More than a hundred children had the opportunity to learn through fun and games.

All young participants who successfully passed all the stations of the ranger adventure received a certificate for a junior ranger, awards that will help them in the mountains and unforgettable memories.

World Ranger Day has been celebrated on July 31 since 2007 at the initiative of the International Ranger Federation. The purpose of this day is to give more publicity and to pay the necessary respect to the work of all park employees around the world who have dedicated their lives to the service of nature conservation in protected areas and who are on the front line in the fight against the elements, poachers, often face to face with wild animals and sometimes have to work in extremely adverse and dangerous conditions of the wild.

As part of the initiatives to mark World Ranger Day, the holding of the "Ranger Day" holiday in Cherni Osam is in honor of all nearly fifty park rangers and inspectors of the Central Balkan National Park, who care about the nature of the Park and who do their best every day to preserve it. Thank you!
