Educational meeting with the "Youth Information Center" - Karlovo

On 27.01.2025, at the office of the Park Directorate of the Central Balkan in the town of Kalofer, experts introduced teenagers from the Youth Information Center - Karlovo and their Romanian guests from Asociatia Mod of Life to the activities of the Central Balkan National Park (NBNP). The focus was on awards and projects, such as the inclusion of the beech forests from the 9 reserves of the Park in the UNESCO serial site - "Primary Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe", the creation of the Central Balkan Biosphere Park, also under the auspices of UNESCO under the "Man and the Biosphere" program, as well as the project launched at the end of last year to study the forest ecosystems in mountain water catchments in the Biosphere Park.
The event was held at the invitation of Tsvetelina Zaharlieva from the Karlovo Youth Center in connection with a four-day visit to Bulgaria of their Romanian partners under the Green YOUth Change Makers project, implemented within the framework of the Erasmus + program. The project is aimed at young people interested in environmental issues, social justice and sustainable management. Its goal is to promote the environmental and social challenges facing our modern society, as well as the opportunities for adolescents to counteract and cope with them.
The work with the "Youth Information Center" - Karlovo is part of the partnership program of the Biosphere Park and is an example of the possible benefits of cooperation between us in the implementation of joint projects with ideal goals.
