The fire in Central Balkan has been extinguished

The fire in Central Balkan has been extinguished. The rain that fell around 16:00 over the area helped to bring the fire under control. For more than 72 hours, efforts to extinguish it continued in the Steneto reserve on the territory of Central Balkan National Park. Employees of the park directorate, fores rangers, firefighters from local regional services, over 55 military personnel from the 61st Stryam Mechanized Brigade - Karlovo, 30 volunteers from formations from the city of Sofia and the city of Plovdiv participated in the action. Two specialized helicopters were also involved in the operation. Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, Minister of Interior Kalin Stoyanov and Minister of Environment and Water Petar Dimitrov were on site during the control of the fire, who assisted in providing additional equipment. With the support and participation of all involved in the battle with the fiery element, the fire was not allowed to enter the conifer massif and cause serious damage to the natural habitats
