The Park Directorate received ten new motorcycles and preventive control equipment

30 March 2023
During the past week, ten new motorcycles, spare parts and equipment for them were delivered to the Central Balkan National Park Directorate. The contract for their delivery is implemented within the framework of the activity "Prevention and fight against fires and poaching by providing the necessary equipment and equipment" under the project "Restoration and protection of natural habitats and species in the Central Balkan National Park", financed under the Operational Program. Environment 2014 - 2020".
The main priority in the activities of the park administration is the implementation of control over compliance with the regime of the protected territories entrusted for management - Central Balkan National Park and the nine reserves within its scope, as well as the Elenova gora reserve and the  Chamdza
maintained reserve. The new equipment will support the performance of the duties of the officers of the Control and Security department by more efficient planning of security duties and together with this will reduce the response time in case of crisis situations.
The vehicles will be used for increased control against poaching, unregulated entry of motor vehicles, fires, and other disasters in the protected areas managed by the park directorate.
The new motorcycles are only part of the equipment that will provide a technical possibility for more active preventive activities for the employees of the National Park. As a result of the implementation of the project, four sets of specialized fire fighting modules, four drones, a container-type control and information center, thermal imaging cameras, binoculars, including night vision ones, sight tubes, video traps, cameras, and floodlights are now available. A communication system was also delivered, including a dispatch center, and stationary and mobile radio stations. The receipt of fire-fighting equipment for landfills, which will be located on the territory of the National Park, is pending.
The delivered equipment will help increase the mobility of park rangers, strengthen the effectiveness of control and security activities and, above all, improve preventive activities to prevent natural and anthropogenic factors leading to damage to the target natural habitats.
