Today we celebrate the European day of the network of protected areas Natura 2000

On May 21, 2024, we celebrate 32 years since the establishment of the Natura 2000 network of protected areas in the European Union (EU). The Ministry of the Environment and Waters (MOEW) is participating in the European Day of Natura 2000 once again.
The Central Balkan National Park Directorate will celebrate this day in partnership with тхе Vasil Levski-1861. – Karlovo community centre, with the eco-initiative under the title "Think eco, be eco", which will be held in front of the community center building on May 23 and 24 from 2-6 p.m. At it, visitors will be introduced to the essence of The Natura 2000", the species protected , their purpose and other topics related to the protection of the biodiversity of the protected areas and, in particular, of Central Balkan National Park.
The European Commission in partnership with the Observation.org platform is organizing "Natura 2000 Day 2023 BioBlitz" in 18 protected areas in 18 member states of the European Union. The European Natura 2000 Day BioBlitz takes place on May 21, and Bulgaria participates with the territory of the Central Balkan National Park, which is designated as a protected area under the Birds Directive and the Habitats Directive.
