We celebrate International Ranger Day

The International Day of the Ranger is an initiative of the International Federation of Rangers. 2024 continues the 30 by 30 theme set by the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) in 2022. Goal 3 of the Convention outlines the requirement that at least 30 percent of the planet be effectively conserved and managed by 2030. ("30 by 30").

Central Balkan National Park Directorate marked the date from the nature protection calendar with two consecutive events. On July 27, for the fifth consecutive year, the children's holiday "RANGER'S DAY 2024" was held. Over 200 participants passed through the nine stations and received certificates. The event took place in the yard of the Natural History Museum in the village of Cherni Osam in partnership with the school for mountain guides and the Municipality of Troyan. The little "rangers" had to overcome their fears by going through a trolley, a climbing wall, the "ranger's path", solve puzzles, learn about plants and animals, explore the parameters of the forest, make herbariums, face challenges in nature.

On two consecutive days - July 29 and 30, an eco-hike "Explore the huts above Karlovo" was held with young people from the Youth Information Center - Karlovo, as part of the Youth Activities Program of the Municipality of Karlovo for 2024. The group was accompanied by two employees from the Directorate of The National Park expert and park ranger interpreted the natural environment of the Stara Reka Reserve, presented interesting facts about the surrounding flora and fauna, and imparted useful knowledge about behavior in the high mountains.

The Day of the Rangers, which is held on the initiative of the International Ranger Federation (IRF), is dedicated to the bravery and perseverance of these park employees who gave everything in the service of nature.
