We celebrate World Ranger Day on July 31

01 August 2023
In partnership with the Natural History Museum - Cherni Osam and the National School for Mountain Guides - Cherni Osam, on Saturday, July 29, many children and young people "stepped into the shoes of the ranger", going through a number of tests and challenges. In the courtyard of the Natural History Museum, 10 stations were positioned, which included nature art activities, compass work, determining animal species by their tracks, crossing obstacles, determining the age of trees, climbing, trolley descent, making knots, extinguishing games on fire, searching for species, learning about traditional animal husbandry in the Park and much more. Guests of the event were young people from the "Wild Bees" Scout Club - Pleven.
The day of the ranger ended with the presentation of certificates and well-deserved gifts to the participants.
The celebration of the holiday will continue this week. We are waiting for you on August 2 (Wednesday) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the central park of the city of Pavel Banya.

World Ranger Day is an initiative of the International Federation of Rangers. The theme in 2023 is '30 by 30' and builds on the 2022 UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15), where the global framework for biodiversity was agreed by world leaders and decision-makers. Goal 3 of the Convention outlines the requirement that at least 30 percent of the planet be effectively conserved and managed by 2030 ("30 by 30").

This goal cannot be achieved without an appropriately resourced and trained local workforce. At the forefront of this workforce are rangers and protected area workers, including government staff, local population and community volunteers. Their work consists of environmental protection and monitoring, species and landscape protection, visitor work, fire management, law enforcement, education, community support and regulation of sustainable use of natural resources.
