Festivals were held at Central Balkan Biosphere Reserve in the municipalities of Karlovo and Anton

The events took place on October 20 in the village of Anton and on October 21 in the town of Karlovo under the title Central Balkan Biosphere Reserve - Common future for people and nature. The places are not chosen randomly, because the two settlements are administrative centers in two of the five municipalities of the transition zone of the Biosphere Reserve.
On Friday, a kind of host of the event was the National Community Center "Hristo Botev - 1925", Anton village. In the space in front of the cultural institution and the beautiful center of the village, about 40 children and their leaders from the "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" participated in eco-games organized by the "Youth Information Center" - the city of Karlovo, got acquainted with the rich ethnographic collection, observed a demonstration of carpet embroidery using the kanatitsa needlework, viewed souvenir kuker masks and artisan knitting. They recreated their impressions of what they saw, the materials they received and a conversation with experts of the National Park about the UNESCO honors of the region through drawing. The employees of the community center treated all the guests of the event with traditional autumn delicacies - baked apples, pumpkin pie and cookies. Villagers who passed through the center on Friday received more information about the Biosphere Reserve and current initiatives related to it.
On Saturday, the celebration continued in the city of Karlovo. On the square in front of the "Vasil Levski - 1861" Community Center , it was opened by ensembles of the center - the Children's Folklore Formation and the "Rozova Dolina" dance ensemble. Residents and guests of the city could taste bio-honey, buy lavender products, homemade syrups and jam, pestil, dried fruits. Among the exhibitors were masters of folk costumes and artists of artistic ceramics. For the children and their parents, workshops on pottery, painting folk aprons, crocheting, glass painting and modeling with clay were held completely free of charge. An hour of the event was also the exhibition of 15 photographs presenting the various aspects of the Biosphere Park. An information stand with brochures, leaflets, posters, magnets and stickers related to the event, as well as experts from the Park Directorate, introduced the visitors to the two UNESCO sites.
With the last two events of the past week, the series of festival and informational events, under the title "Biosphere Reserve Central Balkan - Common future for people and nature", were held consecutively in the period September - October 2023 in the city of Pavel Banya, city Sevlievo, the city of Troyan, the village of Anton and the city of Karlovo.
The holidays were organized by the Central Balkan National Park Directorate with the support of the municipalities of Troyan, Sevlievo, Pavel Banya, Karlovo and Anton within the "Participation Program" of UNESCO, as a continuation of the initiative "Partner of the Central Balkan Biosphere Reserve".
