The Park Directorate assigns the implementation of fire-fighting measures under activity №11 Preventive activities against fires in forest natural habitats, within the Project "Restoration and protection of natural habitats and species in the Central Balkan National Park".

        Seventy percent  of the entire invertebrate fauna of  Bulgaria- a grand total of 2,387 species and subspecies reside in the Park:


·        261 are rare


·        168 are endemic


·        108 are relict

·         36 are included in world and European lists of endangered species



·     10 are in the Bulgarian Red Data  Book


        Of high conservation significance are the European calosoma beetle, Apollo butterfly, and silverspot. Experts suggest that during the next years the known invertebrate fauna of the park will increase sensible after more researches.
