On the occasion of World Water Day - March 22, the Central Balkan National Park Directorate together with the Natural History Museum - Cherni Osam village are organizing a celebration for young and old. Through games and tasks, everyone will learn more about water, its related species and how to protect it. The event will be held in the courtyard of the museum on March 22 (Wednesday) from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Vasil Levski hut

 

The hut is built in 1926 and it is the first hut in Stara planina mountain (third in the country preceded by “Skakavitsa” hut in Rila and “Aleko” hut in Vitosha). Vassil Levski hut is situated at 1450m above the sea level, in “Golyamata gyurla”, a place where the two initial tributaries of Stara Reka (River) flows into each other.

It is a solid two storey building with total capacity of 70 beds allocated in rooms with 2,4 beds and more beds. The WCs are shared. There is also a bath.
The building is electrified and water supplied. Solid fuel stoves heat it.
The hut disposes of tourist kitchen and equipment, dining room with fireplace and a small shop.

The trails are marked.
Starting points: the town of Karlovo – 5,30h along marked path (the town of Karlovo is a rail way station on Podbalkanska line), as well as the towns Sopot, Troyan, Apriltsli, the villages: Vassil Levski, Cherni Osam, Oreshak, the huts Balkanski rosi, Hubavets, Ravnets, Dobrila, Ambaritsa, Pleven, Yavorova laka, Rai, Botev shelter and tourist dormitory Karlovo.
