The Dobrila peak

ABOUT THE PEAK

The peak of Dobrila is low and forested, it rises West of the Dobrila hut. It marks the beginning of the main crest trail Dobrila hut – Botev Peak, which follows the watershed crest between the Troyan and the Kalofer mountains. Given the high avalanche risk it is not recommended for hiking in winter. For the alpine hikers it is a traverse of IV b category. In nice, clear weather it offers unforgettable vistas towards Northern and Southern Bulgaria. It is a section of the Kom-Emine hiking trail. Dobrila gives a good idea of how the larger section of the main crest would look like if grazing were lacking; grazing has been the traditional earning for the local population since centuries, and has seriously influenced the landscape and the vegetation of the region.
