Guided tours in the beech forests of the Central Balkan National Park 2
Following the initiative of the Central Balkan National Park Directorate to organize free visits with guides to beech forests, part of a serial site of the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List, four more visits are planned in 2022 – two of them at the beginning of the summer and two at the end. They will be of varying difficulty – low, medium and high. The aim is to enable a wider range of people to reach pieces of Bulgarian nature that have received international recognition.

The educational program "The Park as a Classroom" of the Central Balkan National Park Directorate has been renewed after a two-year break due to the pandemic situation in the country. It relies on the long-term cooperation between the park directorate and the pedagogical college from the park region. - management and guarding of the Central Balkan National Park;
- implementation of the management plan;
- commissioning of activities, provided for in the Management Plan and in the development plans and projects;
- co-ordination and control activities, conducted by other authorities, organizations and persons;
- monitoring of the environmental media and database maintenance;
- imposing penalties for infringements.
According to Article 50 of the PAA, in exercise of his/her powers, the Director of CBNPD:
1. supervises the management of the national park;
2. coordinates the development of the 10-year Management Plan of the park;
3. implements the Management Plan of the NP and ensures the guarding;
4. assigns the implementation of maintenance, management, regulatory or restoration, and tourism activities in the park;
5. issues annual permits for grazing and permits for use of timber by the local population within the frames of the maintenance and regeneration activities in the forests, in accordance with the legally approved plans and projects;
6. issues permits for collection of mushrooms and wild fruits for commercial use in accordance with the development plans and projects, with the exception of such from the medicinal plants in the NP;
7. supervises the activities of the users of the forests, agricultural lands and water bodies;
8. co-ordinates and controls the implementation of the management plans concerning the scientific research work, the management and maintenance measures for the threatened species and habitats, the environmental awareness rising and education programmes, as well as other nature conservation activities implemented by other governmental institutions, municipalities, non-governmental organizations and individual persons;
9. organizes the monitoring over the quality and the components of the environment;
10. organises the operation of visitors information centres;
11. sanctions violators in the envisioned cases.
