29/07/2021 Prevented fire on the territory of Central Balkan National Park

On the afternoon of July 28, a signal was given for smoke in the area of the road from the Beklemeto resort complex to the Chuchul chalet. The signal was given by Stoyan Zagorchev – a livestock owner from the village of Hristo Danovo (Karlovo municipality) and a user of pasture area on the territory of the Central Balkan National Park.

09/07/2021 Guided tours in the beech forests of the Central Balkan National Park

The Central Balkan National Park Directorate organizes free guided tours in the beech forests, part of a serial site on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. Three visits are planned in 2021 and three in 2022. They will be of varying difficulty - low, medium and high. The aim is to enable a wider range of people to touch corners of Bulgarian nature that have received international recognition.

08/07/2021 An annual plan for the use of mushrooms and wild fruits other than medicinal plants in Central Balkan National Park, 2021 has been approved

The plan outlines the procedures for determining the quantities of mushrooms and wild fruits other than medicinal plants allowed for collection. The quantities are provided in order to ensure environmentally-friendly livelihoods of the population through successful practices to ensure timely implementation of the seasonal campaign for the use of these resources, creating conditions for the development of environmentally friendly livelihoods of the local population.

06/07/2021 Central Balkan National Park Directorate organized a public discussion.

Based on Art. 60 of the Protected Areas Act, the Central Balkan National Park Directorate organized a public discussion of the implementation of the Мanagement plan of the Central Balkan National Park. The event will take place on July 28, 2021 from 11.00 am in the Art Gallery "Hristo Tsokev" in Gabrovo, in compliance with the current temporary anti-epidemic measures.

By order of the Director of the Central Balkan National Park from June 23 to December 31, 2021, the movement, stay and parking of vehicles on the road Beklemeto locality - Dermenka hut due to repairs. This is a road with free access, according to the Management Plan of tCentral Balkan National Park 2016 - 2025.

CBNPD has been established pursuant to Article 46, Paragraph 1 pt. 2 and Article 49 of the PAA with Order No RD-506/29. 12. 1998 - Annex No 1.5.1. (Amended with Order No RD75/03.02.2006, the Annex No 1.5.2.) of the Minister of Environment and Water, as an independent legal body under the direct authority of the Ministry of Environment and Water with headquarters in the town of Gabrovo and with the operational objective: 
 - management and guarding of the Central Balkan National Park;
 - implementation of the management plan;
 - commissioning of activities, provided for in the Management Plan and in the development plans and projects;                       
 - co-ordination and control activities, conducted by other authorities, organizations and persons;
 - monitoring of the environmental media and database maintenance;
 - imposing penalties for infringements.

According to Article 50 of the PAA, in exercise of his/her powers, the Director of CBNPD:
1. supervises the management of the national park;
2. coordinates the development of the 10-year Management Plan of the park;
3. implements the Management Plan of the NP and ensures the guarding;
4. assigns the implementation of maintenance, management, regulatory or restoration, and tourism activities in the park;
5. issues annual permits for grazing and permits for use of timber by the local population within the frames of the maintenance and regeneration activities in the forests, in accordance with the legally approved plans and projects;
6. issues permits for collection of mushrooms and wild fruits for commercial use in accordance with the development plans and projects, with the exception of such from the medicinal plants in the NP;
7. supervises the activities of the users of the forests, agricultural lands and water bodies;
8. co-ordinates and controls the implementation of the management plans concerning the scientific research work, the management and maintenance measures for the threatened species and habitats, the environmental awareness rising and education programmes, as well as other nature conservation activities implemented by other governmental institutions, municipalities, non-governmental organizations and individual persons;
9. organizes the monitoring over the quality and the components of the environment;
10. organises the operation of visitors information centres;
11. sanctions violators in the envisioned cases.
